Time management
SAP Time Management includes all the functions your company needs to record and analyze working time. In addition, you can manage employee attendances and absences and make the data available to other modules, especially SAP Payroll.
SAP Time Management supports both positive (recording all attendances and absences) and negative (recording deviations from the work schedule) time management and enables you to create shift schedules based on your specific needs and according to legal regulations. Your employees have many options for recording their times, such as standardized integration in terminal systems, SAP Employee Self Services (SAP ESS) and SAP Cross Application Time Sheet (SAP CATS) or SAP FIORI apps on the Smartphone. SAP Time Evaluation automatically generates increases and reductions, making all relevant data directly available to SAP Payroll and other modules.
The key features of SAP Time management are −
  • Monitors Human Costs as per time booking for a project.
  • Documents Progress of Process.
  • Process of Invoices.
  • Records External Employees’ Services.
  • Maintains Planning and Progress.
  • Confirms Service Management Orders.
  • Collects Data Plans and Sheets.

Organizational Management helps you to get a clear structure of your organization in the past, present, and future. Using this information, you can prepare and plan for your organization. Organizational Management is based on objects; each object has some characteristics, and these characteristics are maintained in Info types.                                                                               Following are some basic object types:

  •     Jobs
  •     Positions
  •     Cost centers

Organizational units
Organizational units are functional units. Based on tasks of your company you can create departments or groups or teams. Organizational units differ from other enterprise such as company code, personnel area. You create the organizational structure of your company by relating organizational units to one another.

Jobs
Jobs are general sets of functions for example Manager or Secretary. Jobs are assigned tasks and characteristics. Job describes the position. Using this relationship position automatically inherits the tasks and characteristics of job. When you create jobs, they are listed in a job index. A job index is a list of jobs maintained for an enterprise.

Positions
Positions are held by employees or users in an enterprise for example sales administrator. Positions differ from jobs in that they are more specific entity and are usually attached to organizational units. You can also be assigned specific tasks and characteristics directly to position. Positions can be 100% filled, partially filled or vacant. One position may also be shared by several employees, each working less than full time. For example, two employees can hold 60% and 40% of one position.

Cost centers
Cost centers are maintained in financial accounting and can be linked to either Organizational Units or Positions. Only costs are collected in cost center not company revenues. Cost Center assignments are inherited along the organizational unit structure.

Persons
Persons generally represent employees in your company and hold positions in Organizational Management. Additional information for persons is maintained in Personnel Administration.

Task
The work that is to be done for a particular job or particular position is describe by task. For example Workplace safety, health issues tasks are addressed by the human resources manager. You can create single tasks or task groups. Single tasks are individual activities, task groups are activities that are routinely performed together.

Work centers
Work centers describe the physical locations where tasks are performed.  A work center can                  represent a geographical location for example Pune branch office.

HCM Process Flow.

SAP HCM Modules – Categories within HCM

Most of HCM services fall into two broad categories or focus areas – Personnel Administration (PA) and Personal Planning and Development (PD). Each of these sub modules handles company’s different human resource functions. The integration of these two categories results in an efficient, well-oiled Human Resource machine, which when further integrated with the other business processes creates a competitive edge for the firm’s business.

Personnel Administration (PA)
The PA module of HCM helps you to handle employee payroll calculations, manage employee benefits, assess eligibility to plans and benefits, enroll employees into benefit plans, and track costs and compensation. In times of increasing decentralization and globalization of workforce, an efficient and transparent administration of personnel data is a decisive advantage. You can manage all modern personnel administration tasks with this application component. Personnel Administration relieves you from the daily routine administrative activities involved in an HR process which are costly and time consuming.

Talent Management (TM)
SAP Talent Management is one of the latest addition and up gradation to the Human Resource Module. It offers a holistic approach to talent management and handles the entire gamut of Talent Management including processes such as, recruiting, career management, succession management, enterprise learning, employee performance management, and compensation management. This solution helps to find the skill and knowledge gaps by comparing the employee profiles to actual positions. It also helps to identify the high potential employees. It is a great tool to strategize and draw out development and training plans to meet organizational needs and align the workforce with the skill requirements.
